Prefix Systems was founded 1996 by a young and ambitious Chris Cooke, at that time the conservatory industry was starting to gather pace and conservatories were the ‘must have’ house extension. Prefix Systems was established when a gap in the market was identified to cater for quality ‘off-site’ constructed conservatory roof structures for the industry. The emphasis was very much on quality and service, something which is still at the heart of the Prefix Systems company ethos today.

From humble beginnings in a 2500 sq. ft. unit in Bacup, Lancashire, Prefix produced it’s first roof in March 1996. Testament to Prefix’s drive for quality and service is the fact that many of those customers from that first year of trading are still dealing with the company today. After four years in Bacup came a move via Accrington for 15 years, eventually leading to a move to Blackburn during 2015 where the company now occupies a 60,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility. This new site is the head office, producing glass conservatory roofs and the industry leading tiled Prefix warmroof.

Prefix Systems has also expanded to other areas of the UK over the past 20 years to form the only true national network of conservatory roof fabrication sites with manufacturing facilities set up in Northampton in 2006 and Swansea in 2010. The company has grown from a team of 3 in 1996 to a group of companies occupying over 100,000 sq.ft. of space and now employing over 100 people nationwide….and still growing.

The company now produces a wide variety of aspirational home improvement products for the sector from Aluminium Windows and Bifolding doors to lantern roof lights and orangery structures. The company also specialises in products specifically for the replacement conservatories.
