Enforceable from 25 May 2018, GDPR is a new EU regulation which has been designed to update the existing Data Protection Directive. Enacted in 1995, the existing directive was established before the days of widespread internet use, which has fundamentally changed the way we create, use, share, and store information. GDPR is a regulation and as such must be followed much more rigidly – and, indeed, not just by companies based in Europe. At the core of GDPR is the aim to simplify, unify and update the protection of personal data.Changes under GDPR are aimed at moving companies away from a tick-box compliance attitude to the security and privacy of personal information, and towards a company-wide approach to managing the lifecycle of personal data.Organisations will need to attain explicit consent from individuals regarding the processing of their data, and companies will no longer be able to use long, illegible terms and conditions. 

Why does it matter to you?

As the law is changing, Prefix as an organisation needs explicit consent from you to be able to continue sending you our mailshots. If you would like to continue to receive these, please sign up to our newsletter here. In doing so, you are stating that you are happy to continue to receive mailshots from Prefix Systems direct to the email address you provide. You also accept that your data will be kept in the mailchimp list which we can only access via a secure log in. Your data will also be added into our ACT database which is again accessed via a secure log in and then your emails with your data on, deleted. If you fail to opt in, you will no longer receive mailshots from Prefix Systems from 25th May 2018.
