Joel said: "Joel said: “I chose Blackburn College because it was local to me, I heard good reviews from my friends and family and the campus is in a great location for a wide variety of transport choices. I had also heard good things from a former student who told me it was a well-organised and friendly place to study.

“I’ve really enjoyed learning about all aspects of the business environment and studying at the College has enabled me to learn things that have complemented the skills I’ve gained in the workplace.

“Spending one day a week at Blackburn College has also allowed me to socialise with others who are also doing an Apprenticeship and I’ve definitely made some friends for life as a result of this! The people on my course made it enjoyable and the teachers were extremely helpful and supportive when help was needed.

“Blackburn College has been great at supporting me and giving me guidance about what needs to be done in my future career. All the staff are extremely friendly and this makes it really easy to ask when you’re stuck and need a bit of help.

“My tutor Sandra was always there for me when I needed help. She was only a phone call away and when asked she would come and visit me at my workplace.”

He added: “During my time at the College I won the NFA Young Person Award and winning the award was the greatest and proudest achievement of my life. This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Blackburn College and my Employer Prefix Systems!

“Since my first day, Prefix Systems have been immensely supportive of my professional and personal development with their relentless support. Everyone is so supportive – especially my Manager Jenny.

“Prefix have helped me to learn many new IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Sage. My confidence has really grown as a result of this and this has given me the boost I needed to believe in my capabilities.

“I really enjoy my full-time job at Prefix Systems and I feel very appreciative of being part of it. In the future, I would maybe like to go down the route of Management.”

Joel now works in the after sales team.
